Banks wish to retrieve information from the state registers, but in addition to that, the banks also provide services for the e-State.
One of the main services is the bank link service whereby the bank identifies the person and directs them to another E-service environment. Today, this solution is already being replaced by a system using the ID-card and Mobile-ID.
Also, banks have created solutions for various paid E-services and M-services. This means that if the service of an organisation must be paid for, the user will not actually have to go to a bank.
Roughly 98% of banking transactions in Estonia are conducted electronically
Instead, the user is directed to the Internet bank from the service environment, and once the payment has been made, the user can continue using the service in their particular environment.
These options, described above, are available from eight different commercial banks.
Electronic banking is a part of everyday life for most Estonians, because Estonian Internet banks offer a complete solution, allowing customers to complete all kinds of transactions with their money from their home, office or any other place which has a computer and Internet access.
Thanks to Internet banking services, many Estonians have learned to use the computer and the Internet, and have purchased a home computer with Internet access.
