On the one hand, the Mobile-ID allows people to use electronic services even when, for whatever reason, they do not have their ID card with them.
On the other hand, the Mobile ID is also very convenient because it does not require a lot of effort to adjust the settings.
The introduction of the Mobile-ID card opened up new opportunities for elections.
Technically, Estonia could be the first country in which general mobile elections are held, but we will see in the near future whether that is legally viable.
Mobile-ID is primarily intended to be used in electronic environments; its functions are similar to the electronic functions of the ID-card.
With Mobile-ID, people can access their everyday information systems from any computer with a browser and the Internet; the PIN numbers are entered using a mobile phone. Also, in Estonia, people can use their mobile phone (in a way which is similar to the way they use their ID-card) to write a digital signature.
